There’s no one answer, but I wanted to give some general guidelines when it comes to your options. I’ll break these out into Standard, Premium and Luxury categories and give some examples.

THE STANDARD HONEYMOON

Cost: $3000-6000

First off, we’re not calling your honeymoon standard….we’re calling the budget range standard. Every honeymoon is special!

Many honeymoon couples are young and this is their first big vacation together. You’ve just spent a lot of money on your dream wedding and want to keep honeymoon costs low. Good news! Some of our favorite all-inclusive resorts are a short flight away.

Within a few hours you can be enjoying an umbrella drink on the beach! Resorts in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are plentiful and an excellent value for your beach honeymoon.

The resorts in these destinations range from basic, no-frills resorts to upscale luxury resorts with butler service and included excursions and spa treatments. Here are just a few of our favorites:

Unico 20 87 in Riviera Maya, Mexico: This adults-only resort has changed the game when it comes to all-inclusives. Your stay includes select excursions, salon and spa treatments, SCUBA and golf. They have mixologists behind the bars serving up tasty libations and the food is delicious.

Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos: This luxury adults-only resort near Cabo San Lucas in Mexico is on the upper end of the budget range and it’s worth every penny! From the moment arrive you’ll be treated like royalty with a welcome drink and a hot neck pillow to relax your neck and shoulders after a day of travel. Every room has a butler that helps make your stay extra special. The gourmet food is delicious and their bartenders mix up some mean drinks. If you’re lucky you may even spot whales while you dine by the sea. Amazing!

Secrets Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic: This adults-only resort is on a beautiful beach in the Dominican Republic. If you really want to spoil yourselves, we recommend booking the Bungalow Units. These rooms are just steps from the beach. Yes, please!

Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica: Is a beautiful beach #1 on your honeymoon wishlist? Then this may be the resort for you! This resort has a laid-back, Caribbean vibe that’s perfect after the stress of planning a wedding. Your stay also includes some excursions, SCUBA and golf. One love in the home of All Right!

Caribbean Cruise: Don’t want to choose just one destination? No problem, how about a cruise that visits several islands? With accommodations that range from Inside cabins to Suites, there’s something for every honeymoon budget level.

THE PREMIUM HONEYMOON

Cost: $6000-10,000

For those that want to take it up a notch, here are some great getaways in the Premium category. Explore Caribbean islands such as St. Lucia, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Antigua and more. Or visit the always romantic Hawaii. Looking for some adventure? Check out Costa Rica.

Costa Rica: We love this diverse country in Central America for our adventure-seeking honeymooners. We recommend booking a split stay between the interior of the country near the Arenal Volcano and then heading to the beach for a few days of relaxation. If you like ziplines, rappelling waterfalls, hiking and white water rafting then you’ll love Costa Rica! Oh, and of course you can’t forget about the incredible wildlife. Who doesn’t love sloths and monkeys!?

Hawaii – No passport? No problem! Visit our American paradise in the Pacific. With 4 major islands to choose from, there’s something for every kind of honeymooner. Beautiful beaches, Polynesian culture, incredible hiking, active volcanoes, surfing….the list just goes on and on!

St. Lucia – Looking for an all-inclusive honeymoon resort in a destination that resembles Hawaii? Then St. Lucia is the destination for you! One of our favorite all-inclusive resorts even includes a daily spa treatment. What better way to relax after your wedding?

THE LUXURY HONEYMOON

Bora Bora: When you picture your honeymoon do you see overwater bungalows in Bora Bora? Then you fall in the Luxury category! This once in a lifetime experience is the perfect way to start your life together!

Fiji: Worried that Bora Bora may be a little too boring for your honeymoon? Check out beautiful Fiji. This nation of many islands in the South Pacific offers a diverse range of accommodations and activities. Another thing we LOVE about Fiji? The people!
