What were the deciding factors on choosing your wedding resort?
We looked at price, amenities, location, and past reviews from other wedding groups and individual guests.
What were some of your biggest fears about having a destination wedding?
We allowed someone else to essentially take over a large part of the wedding planning process. Simply, we didn’t know exactly what we would be dealing with until we got to the resort – we had to trust that they had everything we needed. A smaller fear was that not many people would show up.
How was your experience working with the wedding coordinator at the resort? Were there any challenges? Did they excel in certain areas?
Lenny was great! There were a few issues that popped up during our first on-site meeting with her, but we resolved things fairly quickly. It felt like wedding coordinators weren’t given much flexibility, which made things a bit more challenging. Ultimately, she was a big help.
Tell me about your wedding. Where was it? Did you have a cocktail hour & reception? What were those like?
We had our wedding at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya on one of the oceanview gazebos. Our cocktail hour and reception were held on another oceanfront terrace, and it was the perfect spot. We really liked being at the edge of the resort because we did not have much foot traffic at the cocktail hour/reception. We also loved the setup of our events!
Did you splurge on anything wedding-related & would you do it again?
We splurged on the “Take a Shot, Take a Seat” and people absolutely loved it! It was $2 extra per shot/person, but almost everyone we talked to mentioned how fun it was to have that set up..
Shout out any vendors you loved (makeup/photography/DJ/etc):
We absolutely loved our videographer (JJ Studio) and the DJ (Party Music Events) was awesome!
Anything you would do differently or advice you’ve give to other couples planning a destination wedding?
Recognize that not everything will be under your control – things will go wrong, things will change, but ultimately, you’re going on vacation and getting married!
What kind of feedback did you get from your guests? This could be about the resort, the wedding, or KP Travel Group.
Guests liked the resort, but felt that there wasn’t enough signage so some folks got lost often. Other than that, we heard great things!
