In August 2024, I had the pleasure of spending four nights at Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic, for an exclusive weddings and celebrations training site visit. Along with some of their top wedding travel agents, I got an insider’s look at all the beauty and charm this luxury resort offers to wedding couples and their guests. From touring the stunning wedding venues and sampling the gourmet wedding menu to skeet shooting, horseback riding, and even receiving a certificate as a “Certified Agent of Weddings and Celebrations,” I experienced firsthand the unique magic of Casa de Campo.
Let’s dive into what makes Casa de Campo one of the most extraordinary destination wedding venues you’ll ever find!
Welcome to Casa de Campo
So, what makes Casa de Campo unique? In one word, everything. This is not your typical all-inclusive resort. Casa de Campo is a destination within a destination—a sprawling luxury village with endless activities, gourmet dining, and an atmosphere that combines elegance with excitement. With 7,000 acres of paradise to explore, from a 16th-century Mediterranean-style village to a world-class golf course, Casa de Campo brings a “wow” factor that’s hard to find anywhere else.
Imagine cobblestone streets, beautiful 16th-century-inspired architecture, gourmet restaurants, and activities galore. Every room includes its own golf cart so you can cruise from one area of the property to another with ease.
Who Should Consider Casa de Campo?
This place is perfect for couples seeking something extraordinary. If you’re a fan of unique locations, amazing food, and tons of amenities, you’ll love every corner of the property! Casa de Campo is ideal for a destination wedding couple that is looking to find the perfect balance of elegance and adventure. However, if you’re looking for a small, budget-friendly resort or require ocean views from every room, this might not be the best fit for you. Casa de Campo is more of a sprawling experience than a typical beachfront all-inclusive resort.
More Than Just a Resort
One of the things that makes Casa de Campo stand out is the number of activities on-site. This isn’t a “lounge by the pool and call it a day” kind of place (unless you want it to be). During my time there, my days were filled with things like horseback riding, skeet shooting, and exploring the tennis courts. The resort is also known for its not one, not two…. but three world-class golf courses, including the Caribbean’s #1 course, Teeth of the Dog, which is a favorite among celebrities.
During our stay, we were even taken on a day trip to Catalina Island, where the beaches and snorkeling blew me away. During your destination wedding weekend, your guests will have endless options for things to do!
A Few Insider Tips on Casa de Campo
The All-Inclusive Package: For wedding groups, the all-inclusive package is mandatory—and trust me, you want it. One breakfast would’ve cost me $80 without it! With this package, you get unlimited meals, drinks, activities like horseback riding, and your trusty golf cart.
Altos de Chavón: This charming village within the resort is a must-see. It has boutiques, art galleries, a stunning amphitheater, and beautiful views. It’s also one of the most picturesque spots for wedding photos.
The “Casa de Campo Credit Card”: Guests with the all-inclusive package are given a ‘Casa de Campo credit card’ to use throughout their stay. When you’re at a restaurant, the staff does not know you’re an all-inclusive guest so at the end of your meal when you’re presented with your check you just throw down your ‘Casa de Campo credit card’ and the charges get billed to the resort (and not you).
Weddings At Casa de Campo
Venues
Casa de Campo has an incredible range of wedding venues, each offering something unique. Want a beach ceremony at sunset? Minitas Sunset Beach is perfect. Or, if you want to feel like royalty, consider the Plaza Chavón. It’s in Altos de Chavón, and with its romantic colonial architecture and cobblestone paths, it feels like something out of a storybook. There’s even St. Stanislaus Church for a grand, traditional ceremony if that’s your style.
I couldn’t help but be amazed at the variety: the Amphitheater is ideal for dancing under the stars, while Casa del Rio provides a quieter, intimate colonial vibe. Whether it’s the spacious Marina Riverside Center with water views or the chic Minitas Beach Club, Casa de Campo has venues to match every couple’s unique vision.
Destination Wedding Packages
Casa de Campo’s wedding packages are as customizable as they come. Whether you’re picturing a beach ceremony, a garden reception, or a grand ballroom event, they’ve got options for everyone. And as a Certified Agent of Weddings and Celebrations at the resort, I’m well-versed in helping couples navigate the booking process. Casa de Campo’s team is flexible and experienced, and they make every effort to personalize your event to perfection.
Plus, with all the venue options that Casa de Campo offers there is plenty of opportunity to spread your wedding weekend celebrations throughout the resort’s property. Why not host a welcome cocktail party at the chic Minitas Beach Club, a rehearsal dinner at one of the marina’s gourmet restaurants, and then move on to the big day at the romantic Plaza Chavón. You can even end with a farewell brunch at one of their scenic outdoor terraces.
Wedding Food & Beverage
During my site visit at Casa de Campo, I got a first-hand experience of a wedding menu tasting just like couples do. Casa de Campo’s culinary team truly outdid themselves—fresh ceviche, lobster bisque, gourmet sliders, and let’s not forget the desserts (yum!). The food at this resort is on a different level. Trust me when I say that if you’re looking for amazing food to impress your wedding guests, Casa de Campo delivers. Their all-inclusive package means you can savor gourmet meals without worrying about the bill. And I can guarantee that your wedding reception food and beverage will wow your guests!
Planning Your Casa de Campo Wedding
Casa de Campo is truly a one-of-a-kind destination where luxury, adventure, and romance come together to create the perfect setting for a wedding. With its unique venues, extensive amenities, and jaw-dropping views, it’s no wonder couples are drawn to this incredible resort.
